The 300SL Roadster was Mercedes' evolution of the classic 'Gullwing'. They had pioneered the introduction of direct injection and aluminium construction to produce a family of cars that really were state of the art. The Roadster was designed to improve upon it's predecessor and it brought more practicality and style to the fashion conscious American market of the 1950's. As a design it's immediately recognisable with a beautiful and sensuous flowing form - a direct result of the aerodynamic principles that dictated the shape of it's competition bred lineage.
