The XJR-9 is one of the classic Group C Sportcars built for the 1988 season. Porsche had maintained a stranglehold on the class and had proved victorious at Le Mans every year since 1980. This car broke that domination winning the World Championship and scoring a legendary victory at the French circuit. The XJR-9 was campaigned in the distinctive Silk Cut livery and this standout bodywork has helped it become an instantly recognisable icon of 1980's motorsport. I really enjoy rendering these cars as the mixture of aggressive streamlining and complicated livery makes them a particularly satisfying and challenging subject.
